Spent his juvenile in Bari, finished his studies in Naples, with recognizing in teology, philosophy , lecterature and archeology. After assuming numerous positions in 1780 was nominated archbishop of Potenza church. He didn’t accept the nomination in order to keep studying lecterature and stayed in naples till 1781 were he accepted the chair of Oria. Kalefati took the position on june 7 1783 and on the same year he began pastoral visits that ended on 1785. From the beginning he showed his love for his job, with the restauration of churches. He enriched the Oria cathedral, he also thought about building a museum. Nothing remains of his scripts because after his death all of his books were taken by thieves.
