The emperor who favored the encounter of Greek civilization, Latin and Arabic
Grandson of Frederick Barbarossa, Frederick II was considered by some a “wonder of the world”, for others it was rather the Antichrist and still others the Messiah came to restore order of God on Earth. Throughout the first half of the 13th century, the Swabian emperor moved with determination and creativity in a complex political scenario, he strongly influenced, and of which he was the protagonist for a half century. The center of his policy was the Kingdom of Sicily and his court in Palermo was the meeting place of Christian cultures, Arabic, Hebrew and Greek.
